What is the difference between a G6.35 base, GY6.35 base and GX6.35 Base?
The G6.35, GY6.35, and GX6.35 bases are all bi-pin lamp bases with a 6.35 mm pin spacing, but they differ in pin diameter:
Base Type | Pin Diameter | Pin Length |
---|---|---|
G6.35 | 1.0 mm | 7.5 mm |
GX6.35 | 1.0 mm | 6.5 - 7.5 mm |
GY6.35 | 1.25 mm | 7.5 mm |
Key Differences:
- Pin Thickness: The main difference is the pin diameter and pin length
-
Socket Compatibility:
- G6.35 and GX6.35 have the same 1.0 mm pin diameter but can have a different pin length.
- GX6.35 pins can be slightly shorter (6.5 mm), affecting socket fit in some fixtures.
-
GY6.35 has a larger pin diameter (1.25 mm), making it incompatible with G6.35 and GX6.35 sockets unless specified.
- Application: These bases are commonly found in halogen and LED bulbs for stage lighting, medical devices, projectors, and specialty equipment.
