About Compact Fluorescent Bulbs
Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) are an important step towards greater energy efficiency and a longer lasting light bulb. While traditional incandescent bulbs only last approximately 1,200 hours, a CFL will emit light for up to 8,000 hours. This means fewer bulb changes and reduced maintenance costs. Also, a CFL is more efficient at using energy. For the equivalent light from a 60-watt incandescent bulb (approximately 800 lumens), a CFL will use just 13 to 15 watts.
A Wide Range of CFL Bulbs
At Bulb America, we offer a large selection of compact fluorescent light bulbs in various styles for different types of uses. There are CFLs that have a screw-in base for candelabras and chandeliers. We also have spiral CFLs, dimmable CFLs, CFLs for lamps with 3-way settings, bullet CFLs and A-shape (or A-line) CFLs. MR16, MR11, BR30, PAR16, PAR20, PAR30, R20, R30 and R40 are all bulbs for recessed lights. The numbers that follow the letters in these recessed can light bulbs indicate the size, which is the diameter of the bulb indicated in eights of an inch. For example, an MR11 is 11/8 inches and a BR30 is 30/8 inches. This means that BR30 and R30 (and other bulbs with the same numbers) are the same size and can be used interchangeably. PAR light bulbs have a parabolic aluminized reflector on the inside, so it directs light outward. Its coating gives you the maximum amount of light that's possible from that bulb. If you want a very bright light, choose this style. PAR bulbs come in spot beam or flood beam varieties, and many of them can be used outdoors in wet locations.
Specialty CFL Light Bulbs
You won't just see all the common CFL lamps here. We also have specialty CFLs such as triple and quad tubes, colored CFLs and plug-in fluorescent tubes in various configurations. Do you need a circular fluorescent bulb (4-pin quad), a U-Bent bulb, groove tube fluorescent, blacklight tubes or UV germicidal bulbs? We have those too!
